Velocity Networks Ltd was recently announced as a category winner in the 2010 Waikato Business Excellence Awards

"This award provides well deserved recognition for the Velocity team," says Managing Director, John O'Donoghue. "The whole team has worked really hard over the last few years building up a our company systems and customer base and growing the network"

Velocity is no stranger to recognition. Inclusion in the Deloitte Fast 50 in October for the second year running recognised the continued high revenue growth of 213% over the previous 3 years. Velocity was recently confirmed in the Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 for the second year running. Add to that their success as finalists in the TUANZ Innovation Awards this year and you can see the company is well rounded in its development.

"Our TUANZ nomination recognized our credibility in the industry as a network provider and our rapid revenue growth was recognised in the Deloitte Fast 50 and Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 awards. But the Business Excellence Award looks at an even wider picture and confirmed that the whole company is performing well through all facets of business operation." says O'Donoghue. "We've been pleasantly surprised by the demand and are significantly exceeding even our revised forecasts. It's clear there are many companies out there who recognise the benefits of a real broadband connection"

Velocity's BDM, Shane Hobson says, "We're continuing to experience demand from new ISPs wanting to connect to our network. This is great news for businesses on the network as it means more competition between ISPs leading to a broader range of services and lower pricing."

Their success to date has not gone un-noticed and Velocity Networks Ltd and Hamilton Fibre Network Ltd having recently formed a consortium with WEL Networks Ltd and Waipa Networks Ltd to collectively participate in the Government's Ultra Fast Broadband project. This project has a goal to deliver a fibre to the home (FTTH) solution to 75% of all New Zealand homes. The WEL Networks led consortium is bidding for the wider Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Wanganui and Taranaki regions.

"The future is exciting for Velocity. We're nimble and have a very talented team and a number of commercial opportunities to choose from as the Government's Ultra Fast Broadband story unfolds. This Business Excellence Award gives us confidence that we've got our basic systems right and the process has helped us identify areas that we can improve even further."
