Dark Fibre

Dark fibre provides the ultimate blend of speed, security and reliability. Velocity's dark fibre service provides unlit fibre through our network dedicated specifically for you.

Capacity on the dark fibre service is not shared with any other customer and the service is not at risk due to power outages or equipment failure within our network. As the customer provides the equipment to light the dark fibre, you determine the speed at which you run the service.

10Gbps is easily achieved with off the shelf equipment. You are also free to run your choice of communications protocol. If Ethernet doesn't suit your requirements, then you can choose your own fibre termination equipment to run SDH, SONET or any other fibre compatible protocol without concern about incompatibility with our dark fibre network.

Our current dark fibre customers are using this service to link their main business sites with remote data centres and for linking of telecommunications hubs. If you're making a mobile phone call in Hamilton there's a good chance that call is being carried on our dark fibre service.
